You are my Wild

By Laura

A couple of weeks ago I had posted about of one of our favorite poems by MaryAnn K. Cusimano “You are my I love you” and this week I came across a beautiful weekly photography project named from a line of the poem. "You are my Wild" is a collaboration between 14 amazing photographers that focuses on documenting how they see their children (no poses, just how they are). I think it's a beautiful concept and wanted to share it since it has made me realized how as moms we see only love and perfection in our children and wish that everyone would see the same thing.

Here are some of my favorites:

Outside

By Laura

Sunny breezy days are here and we are trying to soke up some vitamin D and enjoy this beautiful weather as much as we can.

Sebastian loves being outside whether it is in the backyard, at the park or  the mall (I hope this never changes). He loves staring at people and cars when we go shopping and following little birds with his sight when we are outdoors. He gets more curious each day and everything amazes him even the sound of the garage door.

We took him outside in the backyard the other day when daddy came home for lunch and we had fun playing and taking pictures. I think the sun and our fur-babies running and playing around make him very happy.

Sometimes all we need to have a good time is to go outside and lay in the sun!

Strong Women Strong World

By Laura

Today is International Women's day and no, celebrating this day does not make me a feminist! I just think that being a woman is so special, I mean we get to have children and wear heels! What could be better than that? I want to share a video that I find very inspiring, where women see the good in the bad and use what they have to be better.

Be a strong woman, mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. As women we posses skills that could change the world (depending on how we use them). Be strong and get up when life brings you down and use your voice to encourage others around you. Life is beautiful, especially when we learn to be thankful and share our love with others.

I hope you see what I see! Happy Friday!

p.s: I'm still trying to find more time to be able to post everyday (it will happen soon!) but for now I'll be posting at least twice a week.

My Wild

By Laura

This week started out crazy! One of our fur babies (Lukas) got stung by a bee last Sunday and my dear husband had to run to the vet hospital at 11:30 p.m while I stayed with Sebastian trying to make him fall asleep (he was fighting bedtime); it seems that when you are determined to start the week on the right foot by having everything planned out and organized unexpected things happen to test your patience, which is good because with a baby in the house we need lots of it.

Sebastian is now 8 months old and has decided that he does not want to crawl or try to stand up or walk... he wants to RUN! This little boy is full of energy and cannot  be still for a minute, he's been even resisting naps lately! but even thought I 'm sleep deprived I love his energy and little personality, he makes my days wild and my nights quite.

I wanted to share a book that I love and that reminds me of my "Wild" -

You are My I love you by Maryann K Cusimano

I am your parent you are my child
I am your quiet place, you are my wild
I am your calm face, you are my giggle
I am your wait, you are my wiggle
I am your audience, you are my clown
I am your London Bridge, you are my falling down
I am your Carrot Sticks, you are my licorice
I am your dandelion, you are my first wish
I am your water wings, you are my deep
I am your open arms, you are my running leap
I am your way home, you are my new path
I am your dry towel, you are my wet bath
I am your dinner you are my chocolate cake
I am your bedtime, you are my wide awake
I am your finish line, you are my race
I am your praying hands, you are my saving grace
I am your favorite book, you are my new lines
I am your nightlight, you are my sunshine
I am your lullaby, you are my peek-a-boo
I am your kiss goodnight, you are my I love you

Lots of books and babble

Some of our favorite books right now
"Curious George rides"  is his favorite
He loves colorful pages, this one in particular

By Laura

This post is supposed to be about all the books that I have been buying for Sebastian lately and all the baby babbling that's been going on this week but instead I'm going to go ahead and start this post with some venting or what I call "mommy therapy." Before I became a mom I never thought how difficult it would be to work and raise a child, I thought that with all the nights that I had stayed up late studying for midterms I was prepared for anything and everything and clearly, I was wrong.

Sebastian will be 8 months tomorrow (why can't there be a magical place where moms can move to and stop time?) and is now in the stage where he's enjoying  playing by himself and discovering new things but I still need to keep an eye on him because he can crawl and start chasing our fur-babies all over the house. I've tried to work while watching him play and usually end up leaving work for later when he is napping because I feel as if I were missing something. From all the multitasking that I've been doing recently I've learned that I need to stop trying to get everything done at once and instead I need to start separating work time from baby time if I want to enjoy doing both.

On a positive note, Sebastian is showing some interest in books which makes me very happy because I love reading, I just think it's amazing how you can sit down alone to read a book and still experience a communication between two people... Sebastian's favorite book right now is "Curious George rides," he loves looking at its colorful pages and tasting them too! He's also been babbling like crazy this week, he might be auditing for his own talk show and hasn't told me yet.

Don't forget to grab a book this weekend!

Sebastian for President

By Laura

President's day turned into a crazy day for me with many last minute errands to run but here are some pics of a little activity I did with Sebastian last Sunday night to celebrate President's day. Sebastian was born on election year and I wanted to do something crafty so I decided to make a hat out of foam, grab the camera and have fun!

Choose to Love

Everybody by Ingrid Michaelson on Grooveshark
By Laura

My husband and I have been together for almost 9 years and have never really “celebrated” Valentine’s day because we feel that showing love to your loved one shouldn’t be a one day thing and because on our wedding day we made a commitment and chose to love each other for the rest of our lives even though we might not feel like it every day because we are imperfect people.

Yesterday morning we woke up with Sebastian babbling new words, my love came home to have lunch with us and surprised me with beautiful red roses and a lovely card. Lily (our fur baby) got to wear a pretty red bow and I think she might've liked it because she kept it on the whole day. Our day ended with a very cranky teething baby but that's ok because it was a day full of love.

Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's day!
